Summary justice by blog - the alleged gay fake's, defense case
Apr 19 2009, 8:13 PM EDT
When I first started reading the blogs of fake Gays, I thought, here is a chance for the victims to expose the perpetrators. Oh, wait, in every case of a so-called fake exposed, the victim just happens to be an obroni while the alleged perpetrator is always a Ghanaian. Where are the Ghanaian victims? I know some. Then imagine my shock when I came accross the name of my ex and his son on the fake list. Here is a man who I have known for almost 20 years, invited to Australia, helped him into business and build a house in Ghana. Both men are popular guys - they behave no better or worse than your average citizen. So I decided to email Mike Agomavi about the blog denouncing him and asked him for his account. Why? Well in the first place there is a basic principle of natural justice - the right to be heard. It is a basic right that I suspect has not been extended to ANY of those who have been publicly denounced. That's a flaw that should be fixed. Secondly, I wanted to find out what really happened. I know from listening to gay domestic disputes over the years that there are ALWAYS two sides to a story. Here is what Mike wrote to me: 'my son koku told me that he is having a certain white man who is coming [to Ghana] so i should escort him to the airport to welcome him. When we were at the airport , the BNI people arrested us and took us to the BNI office to intorogate us and put us into a cell and later took us to court. They find out that we are innocent and we were set free. Infact they really tarnish our image [from the publicity about the arrest] and if i had known that whiteman personally i would have sue him in court but it is rather unfortunate i don't know him and of course i don't have money to persue the case. Infact the story reported was not accurate. You know that i am not like that.' The two accounts do not add up. Surprised? Do you find this valuable? |

The fakers2go site does listen to counter arguements. They did remove claims against alledged fakers after accused contested the claims. Then again, every scammer will claim he is innocent. Where did the BMI people come from and who benefitted from it?

2. RE: Summary justice by blog - the alleged gay fake's, defense case
Apr 20 2009, 6:48 AM EDT
Well, as we are one of the main blogs exposing fakers I guess we are should reply. We are very aware that what we have done is very problematic. How do we know these people are really guilty? Who are we to judge? We have also been accused of offering a service for white sex tourists. It is true that a lot of the examples on the site are from whites. Ghanaians, for many reasons, do not often come forwards. We will soon be posting a violent faker who has attacked Ghanaians very shortly. We rely on people coming forwards. Nookn, if you have information it is up to you whether you want to give it to us but don't then accuse us for not publishing it. Andre is correct that we do listen to people and have removed some people from the site after discussions with all parties concerned. However, people that we know for a fact are scammers also write and say they haven't done anything wrong. Mike Agomavi has a very bad reputation in Ghana and has also been in the newspapers. Mike's explanation to you is as confused as many we receive. How did the BNI get involved? Why would they meet someone at the airport? We have other examples of his behaviour too as listed on other forums. You see, this is the problem - the same problem that happened to the ghanafriends club recommended people on gayromeo. Someone may be very nice to you yet blackmail someone else We get many emails from obronis asking to remove someone from our site because they know the person and they are really nice to them. Part of us thinks we should leave the obronis as their behaviour is often stupid and sometimes rude and insulting to Ghanaians. Part of us feels they deserve what they get. However, it is not about the obronis ultimately. It is about the good Ghanaians who also get their reputation tarnished and the damage it is doing to Ghana. If people don't like our methods we are happy to consider others. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

3. Court's decision provides the best assessment of the truth
Apr 21 2009, 4:29 AM EDT
May I suggest that when charges are made, you then follow up and report the court's decision. Ghanaian Court's have been very harsh in their sentences when perpetrators of gay extortion have been found guilty. But in this case, Mike Agomavi and his son were found innocent by the court. Surely that finding puts the matter beyond reasonable doubt. To persist with the posting about him and his son after the court decision, invites contempt and defamation proceedings. These are the risks that you run by not giving due deference to the Court's judgement, a judgement that must consider all the relevant facts and testomony before arriving at a decision. Please remove his posting on your site. My Ghanaian friend who was beaten and left for dead by a gay faker and his gang, was too afraid to report to police or even to allow me to pursue the thugs through exposure. He was lured to Tema and I paid for his medical treatment. Do you find this valuable? |

4. Who benefitted from the BNI? - Ask them
Apr 21 2009, 5:20 AM EDT
On the basis of what Mike A has told me, it looks like it was definitely a 'set up'. Yes, Mike has some enemies, and I know quickly that jealousy can lead to vengeful behaviour. Here is what Mike told me:'I only know he [his son] knows a certain white guy but he didn't have any problem with that man and the man is still his friend. I want to let you know that if we were really guilty or collected any whiteman's money they would have sent us to jail. For your information when they arrested us to the BNI office we didn't see any white man and the whole thing was like they tried blackmail my son and me.The whole thing look like there some guys from the village who are jealous about my son and myself because they don't want our family to survive.' I want you to know something because there was no whiteman who came to prove that koku has done such an act, so everything seem to me like a blackmail or jealousy. That is why the court have to free us.' Mike's account rings true. The case was thrown out of court for lack of evidence from an un-named, no-show, complainant. I know one obroni who treated Ghanaians in Christian Village very rudely, a guy who was into master slave play with a number of guys. He had a paranoia about certain Christian Village guys. He was 'forced' to flee Ghana when he was tipped off that police were searching for him. He blamed Agomavi and his friends for the police operation. They denied it. The complex interpersonal relationships of community life can and does produce high drama. In over 20 years of visiting Christian Village, I have never had such problems. I have just one partner and try to treat all Ghanaians respectfully, listening while remaining positive and up-beat in discussions. It's an approach that has served me well with life-long friends. 5. Mike Agomavi and Godwin Agomavi alias Listowell are not innocent !
Apr 22 2009, 3:26 AM EDT
What Mike Agomavi said for his excuse is absolute nonsense!I'm friend of Chritian Agunor who was involved in that case cos chatting for the illetterate Godwin Agomavi and they all bribed the police and judge with heavy sums to come out of that case. It's because Ghana is totally corrupt.Christian told me that Mike has an Australian friend for about 20years and he said to me even that David Ahoe who blackmailed me in 2006 has a permanent lover. He explained me that it is usually behaviour for guys like Mike Agomavi and David Ahoe to have longterm-lovers which they never harm and blackmail and rob every other tourist which comes their way to make extra money.Mike and his son Godwin Agomavi are involved in many cases of blackmailing.I got knowledge of two more cases.Of cause they are interested to show their innocence in frent of their longterm-lovers which cannot believe that they do so bad things. The same is with another guy called George Morris which worked together with Godwin several times. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. 6. The onus of proof in criminal and civil cases
Apr 22 2009, 5:27 AM EDT
I think your friend Christian Agunor is a mischief maker. I find it is an extraordinary accusation to allege that in relation to this reported and therefore public case, an illiterate lad and his impoverished dad had the 'heavy sums' and negotiation skills and connections from their cell to 'bribe the police and judge with heavy sums to come out of that case.' Your friend 'who was involved in the case' explains this is feasible because ... 'It's because Ghana is totally corrupt.' These are wild assertions and easily disproved. There are many honest lawyers, police and judges in Ghana who should not be tarnished by such wild, baseless and immature assertions. I suggest that the case was dismissed because the complainant and police prosecution could not prove the case with hard evidence. Evidence - what is it? In this case the prosecution could not rely on confessions, because the accused denied the charges. White4blacklover, if you or your friend Christian, who claims to know Godwin well, have hard evidence, such as incriminating emails, chat session transcripts, mobile phone photos and videos, corroborating witnesses, photocopies of guest registers and statutory declarations as to the facts supporting a charge of blackmail, then you should produce this hard evidence to the police and the fakers 2 go blog editors. Hearsay evidence backed by wild assertions are the stuff used by vengence seekers, vigilanties and mob rule. Mike Agomavi and I have not always seen eye to eye but I know he is a sincere man who has a warm heart and he has taken an openly gay friendly approach despite the abuse that he recieves for his efforts. So yes, I do believe him in the absence of any hard evidence to the contrary. Blackmail would be totally out of character for him. His acquittal by the court should be the end of the matter. 7. Now I have enough of this whitewashing of criminals
Apr 22 2009, 9:14 AM EDT
1.) I self send Mr.Agunor money to come out of this case and he told me that Mr.Agomavi lives in a well established situation driving a car and having an extra house who he rent out for other people.Of cause he has enough money to bribe the police. It is well known that Ghanian police is corrupt and I myself bribed out my self with 800 Euro cos I had sex with David Ahoe who called the police. The police officer of police-headquarter where I was taken took my money, counted it and set me free.So don't tell me there isn't any corruption in Ghana.May be you are a green horn about the real situation in third world. The truth is that corruption is the main income of Ghanian police.2.Just last year after Mr.Agomavi setttled his case ,he, his son and George Morris blackmailed another tourist.I have full story from the tourist.Unfortunately it is too long to post here cos the limit is 2000 characters and the story has about 9000. 3."his acquittal by the court should be the end of the matter." I say : NO We have to warn other tourists of these nasty guys of Christian Village that they will not suffer from this blackmailing and robbery and we have to tell their names cos their are also good guys in Ghana and they will suffer from the bad reputation caused by these nasty blackmailers and robberers. 2 out of 2 found this valuable. 8. RE: Now I have enough of this whitewashing of criminals

In a constitutional state it should be so that if someone has been tried and acquitted one should assume the person is innocent. If a case is dropped it means there is not enough evidence. Unfortunately we all know the justice system in Ghana is not yet fully matured to be called a constitutional state. I myself had several run-ins with police and the judiciary, mostly on traffic issues, and they have all been taken care off by financial arrrangements outside the state coffres or by "someone who knows someone". It is all very well possible. Also I know that the family involved appears not to be impoverished at all. They would very well have been in a position to buy themselves out of trouble. It is also maybe a bit easy to say: just come up with the evidence. I have asked several people from Christian Village to give a statement on this, but they all seem to be scared that their life in the Village would be in danger if they get involved in this issue. It is heartwarming how someone is trying to defend someone he has trusted for a long time but I agree as fakers2go stated that someone can be honest to one person and scam the other. Juridically it seems like this is a public lynching without trial. That is why I preferred not to have a blacklist with name and pictures on this site. However I must admit I am happy a site like Fakers2go does exist as it does deal with a serious problem. And a wiki is the perfect platform to discuss issues. You cant discuss in this way on a blog like fakers2go. I think in the end we can just conclude that you believe your friend is innocent but others may be a bit more carefull to put themselves in danger. Mob rule is popular in Ghana; when the justice systems fail people seek their own justice. Which may err at times but which also seems to be effective in its own right. Do you find this valuable? |

I think this discussion shows how hard it is to uncover the facts in Ghana. But f2g have been contacted by a member who doesn't want his identity revealed at this point. This is what he wrote: "A few years ago, someone I met created trouble for me. He showed up at my house with the police and two men claiming to be his father and uncle. He also planted condoms in my house. On the way to the police station, the father told me that he had sex with men and had lived in Australia. I later heard from someone at Christian Village that the father and uncle were actually Godwins family members. I'm now curious to see a photo of Michael Agomavi to see if it was the same man who was part of this gang extorting money from me." This doesn't mean it was Agomavi of course. But it's an interesting coincidence. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

10. The way forward - a virtual wiki court?
Apr 23 2009, 5:10 AM EDT
Thanks to everyone who has contributed their views on this hot topic. Many good points have been made and perhaps there can be some good outcome from all of this discussion. In the absence of a court system with integrity, we see an understanable lack the confidence of the victims of crime and which can also work against those who claim to be innocent or falsly accused. Perhaps in this internet age, the way forward is for us to come up with a virtual justice system. Is it possible for a wiki web site to be developed where complainants can lay their evidence before the virtual court? Ideally the site is facilitated by a reputable lawyer or retired judge. The defendant can also be given to opportunity to question or cross examine the accuser's evidence and provide their own evidence. The rules of evidence should apply, so independently validated copies of original documents by a public notary would be acceptable, or alternatively, they beat non- validated copies. The evidence of all witnesses should be encouraged. Corroborating evidence of witnesses and documents make a strong case, while lack of supporting evidence could lose a case and the complainant has the burden of proof. Could it work? When all the evidence and summing up for both sides has been done, then a jury who do not know either of the parties in dispute, can hear a summing up by the site convenor, acting as a judge, and leaving the jury to make their opinion on the guilt or innocence of the accused. The outcome would be a publication of the findings. People with an interest, can then read the the whole case and jury conclusions and be invited to make their own conclusions. If the delicate balance of the basic human rights of both the accused and the defendant can be reached in the fairest way possible in conducting a hearing, then virtual courts could become a good way to find the truth, when no other way is available. 1 out of 2 found this valuable. 11. Not a court, but a blog with VERY useful information
Apr 23 2009, 5:43 PM EDT
Not a wiki court, just a blog, and the whole story sounds weird. A gay father, with a long distance (australian?) white lover, and happens the son (wasn't the father gay) is also gay (maybe also married?), what a coincidence, with who knows how many lovers... there is an uncle too... what a family...!!! Gay goes from father to son, from uncle to nephew, and all of them reproduce, or is that a way of living supporting the the whole of the family...? Sounds like a family of only-tops (so popular in Ghana, by the way) having white only-bottoms as an important economical source. And no, same I wouldn't trust a ghanaian court convicting someone guilty, because of corruption in the system, why should I trust a ghanaian court declaring someone innocent, when, if you have the money, you can run away for a few bucks...? This is not a court, is about informing potential victims. And here I think more about the local ghanaians than about foreigners, who can fix all with money that ghanaians don't have. white4blacklover, andy.shilongo and fakers2go arguments sound much more convincing to me, the Agomavi clan do not sound like the troop of angels Nookn depicts. I am sorry for mr. Nookn, but your lovable caring long time friend Mike Agomavi is indeed a scammer and blackmailer of the worst kind. Not only that: he and his son Godwin Listowell AKA Agomavi are indeed the maffia-bosses in the Village. All the "small boys" operating in the same business are affraid of them. They are not nice people. And they are not poor. In November 08 they have extorted a Canadian out of 1000 Dollar with extreme violence. Witness statements, victim report and bankvideo of forced money withdrawal available. No doubt about it.Christian Village is a very dangerous territory and should be avoided by visitors to Ghana. 14. Agomavi's history
Apr 26 2009, 12:59 AM EDT
Every hea the expression, 'you learn something new every day'. Well these allegations against Agomavi and his son are new to me, so my cynicism is perhaps understandable. I met Mike at Labardi in the late 80's. He invited me to his mud, thatch and iron shack in Christian Village. I stayed there a while as I got to know the village. In those days things were a lot plainer. There were no internet cafes, 419ers in residence or the other scams. Mike hosted some big parties at his house and I would buy food and drinks. In those days he sold second hand clothes. He has only one son at that time. Now he has two. He always presented himself as a good host. I asked him to come to Australia and help market crafts. That's his photo at the bazaar. When he came back to Ghana his house was destroyed in a storm. We decided to use his land to build a two storey appartments, with mine on top and his on bottom. He provided the land and I provided the building. The years have passed and I have not visited Ghana in 5 years. My contact is by email. I am renting my appartment to a gay friend. Mike's eldest son has been in a long term relationship with his gay partner in Europe. He helps his dad out. I have also helped Mike to establish a chop bar in Christian Village, there is a picture of the lads, including Mike's youngest son, painting the place in blue paint. Mike has had some pretty intense arguements and once blows were exchanged - but the fight was in the chop bar. It does seem that people on this discussion thread have heard many rumours from various sources, that Mike has been living recent years on the proceeds of extortion of gay white men. If these rumours are true, then I would be extremely disappointed. However, before I join the lynch mob, I'd like some credible first hand testomony, rather than chineese whispers I have seen here. Wealthy mafia? hardly - Just visit his home and see, the bare essentials. Second house? - thats my place.

fakers2go is contrasting the information adequately...Regarding Nookn post " 14. Agomavi's history Apr 26 2009, 12:59 AM EDT", Nookn wrote: "(...) I met Mike at Labardi [the father] in the late 80's. (...) He has only one son at that time. Now he has two. (...) That's his photo at the bazaar (...)" The photo he is referring to is the one at Nookn's profile. The guy in the photo with the white guy seems too young to be Mike 'the father', if they met in the late 80's, and is a recent photo. If the photo was taken earlier, the guy in the background would not be that young now as to be 'the son'. And the guy in the background has not been recognized by the victim, as fakers2go reported. So, who it could be... the second son? or Mr. X? Or what is Nookn telling us...? 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

18. They scam again
Nov 16 2009, 3:30 AM EST
It's unfortunate but another person has recently been scammed by Godwin and his father using the same tricks. Except this time they had a better looking man as the bait. The bait showed no interest once Godwin appeared and Godwin forced his way onto the victim, ensuing sex took place. The next morning the father burst in with 'policemen'. He also claimed his son had to go to psychiatric hospil from the trauma! lolWe have updated his profile on the website but cannot publish all the pictures we have as that would compromise our source. Someone has to do something about these nasty people. Godwin's hasn't checked his gaydar profile for a long time so how does he meet his victims? Is it all through introductions? 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
