The police in Ghana is depriving gay people from their civil rights. If a gay person reports abuse to the police he or she can only expect herassment and further abuse. Police will not do anything to protect gay citizens and are thus breaking the laws. The same goes for courts. Judges are biased and always on the side of the gay bashers. The law should protect all citizens and all should be equal in they eyes of the law. The only way gays can get protection against abuse is to organize themselves.
If you are beaten up by gay bashers just because of your sexual orientation there is no other way than to make sure they will never do it again. Gay men have to organize self protection groups and punish those who abuse them. If the police and courts does not do their job citizens have the right to defend themselves. Gay Power! It has been done in other societies. We can do it too... Defend yourself.

Case:

Just before Christmas 2010 two boys from Christian Village and one Obroni were beaten up - totally unprovoked - at the local bar "heart of Lion" in Christian village by the bar owner, one waiter, the kebab seller in front of the bar and one customer. They nearly beat the boys to death and they could barely escape alive. After two days in hospital they went to the police to file a case. The police did not want to do anything.

With the police report of the hospital doctor, they went to mobilize some military men. Early January the military went to the Heart of Lion and arrested 3 of the suspects and hand delivered them (not entirely undamaged) to the police station. Currently they are in custody at the police station pending trial and payment of damages (hospital bill and personal effects).
