The majority of world religions have books which appear to condemn homosexual behaviour. This has often led to abuse and discrimination against us.
In recent times there has been a theological debate about these alleged 'anti-gay' passages, particularly in the Bible, and whether they actually refer to genuine gay relationships. The rise of the lesbian and gay christian movement has challenged the established church and have demanded inclusion not exclusion.
Whether god really 'hates fags' as Pastor Fred Phelps of the disgraceful Westboro Baptist Church claims, is still being debated.
Recently the issue has threatened to split the Anglican church apart as fundamentalist churches, often African with support from the political Right from America, clash with the more liberal European churches.
The seeming condemnation from religions has created much pain and denial for homosexuals and has also led many to give up belief in a god.
