Gay and Christian? Does this help the Homophobia christians in Ghana? This is a featured page

This message is dedicated to the premise that...
"God loved the world so much, that Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, was freely given, that WHOSOEVER believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Yes, it's true! Gays have been likened to the lepers of our day, but just as Jesus reached out and touched the lepers when all others rejected them, so Jesus reaches out and touches we gays today, to explain to us that we are loved UNCONDITIONALLY by God, just as we are, just as we were created. God doesn't make mistakes and He does not require us to become straight!

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart." Jer. 1:5a

"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart." Jer.29:11-13

If you are wondering how it is possible to be both gay and Christian, it will take much reading and prayer on your part to understand the errors of contemporary teaching of Christianity and homosexuality, but God says:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God," Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
THINK WE'RE WRONG?
I believe that you have come here with an open mind. I pray that these articles may inspire in you, a deeper desire to inquire into the truth of God's Holy Word.

We are commanded by God to love UNCONDITIONALLY, one God and our fellow man/woman. We (gays) often hear from people within the church that they love us, but not our sin. That clears their minds sufficiently to believe that they are doing as God commanded, but when we are made to feel unwelcome in your churches, when we are treated with disdain, that is not unconditional love. That is VERY conditional love!

I must emphasize here that I believe with all my heart that the Bible is God's Holy, Divinely-inspired, inerrant Word. It is the foundation of our faith and we must strive to understand it in its fullest, so that we may live the life that God would have us to live, to bring honour and glory to Him!

There was a time when I thought it was blasphemous to question the "truths" of the Church, but II Tim 3:16 tells us that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,REPROOFand instruction in righteousness." This tells me that God WANTS us to examine the Scriptures with an open mind, a mind that will question, a mind that will seek the answers of what it really means to live a holy life. We have an OBLIGATION to challenge what we have been taught when it doesn't fit with other parts of Scripture.

Well prejudice against anyone is contrary to Christ's example of inclusiveness, acceptance and love for all, so to me, there is no corroberation for an attitude of prejudice. I'm not suggesting for a minute that Jesus was tolerant of sin. He was not! I am not! But when you investigate further, you will find that homosexuality is not about sin.Homosexualityis merely an orientation, and orientation carries no implication of morality or immorality. It is simply the direction in which a person's tendencies lie. There is no action associated with orientation, whereas morality is a matter of actions or thoughts.

It is important to make this distinction, since the Bible only addresses immoral behavaviour, not sexual orientation. In each case where homosexuality is mentioned, in reality, correct interpretation of Scripture is not referring to homosexual orientation, but to immoral homosexual acts - in most cases, perpetrated by heterosexuals! If you can grasp this vital difference, please read these articles with an open heart, and may God richly bless you for stepping out in faith, and in the cause of love.

I know that it's a radical concept to even consider that what we have been taught so strictly, for so long, by people we respect, could be wrong, but it has happened before, and it will probably happen again.

Thank God we have the example of the apostlesPeter and Paul, clarifying the wrong teachings of the early Church. Yes, wrong teachings have been around since the beginning. Thank God that He gaveMartin Lutherthe courage to challenge theRoman Catholic Church's teachingsabout selling indulgances (i.e. buying our own salvation). Thank God that He has given YOU the desire to question the validity of some of the teachings that have been accepted for so many years.

There are explanations for each scripture verse which SEEMS to condemn homosexuals. You will find that in actual fact, they do NOT!
Once again, thank you for taking the time to research this subject beyond the traditional beliefs, and may God richly bless you for reaching out to us this way, in TRUE love!

Theapostle Paulsaid it this way:

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing." 1 Cor 13:1-2

And Jesus said,

"All people will know that you are my disciples if you love one another."
John 13:35.

Love is not just words that you love us but hate our sin. Love is action. Please truly love your gay children, brothers, sisters, friends, parents, neighbours (and those who are sitting secretly in the pews of your churces) with Christ's love.
I HOPE GHANAIAN HOMOPHOBIAS WILL REGOGNISE THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT A SIN!! AND BEING A CHRISTIAN AND HATING GAYS IS A SIN! GIVE US OUR RIGHT!

Have a taste of this article from the Nigerian Village:

And something we always overlook is that what the Europeans brought to us, far more than homosexuality, was a religion that sought to demonize it. Christianity. Since it was unrecorded, who can tell the attitude of our medieval ancestors, for instance, towards homosexuality? I guess one of the reasons Ugandans are blaming Nwanga’s homosexuality on Arabs is because it was white missionaries and their African converts who stood firmly against the Buganda king’s pederasty, the missionaries had risked their lives to save some of the young pages he held as sex slaves and serviceable amoretti in his palace. Whenever the Anglican Archbishop of Nigeria, Peter Akinola, gets into passional overdrive over the issue of gays in Nigerians and Africa, I do indeed wonder whether he knows the role white missionaries played in keeping Nwanga’s elephantine craving for boys in check. The archbishop’s homophobia is rather scary. He pours imprecations on gays and those who campaign for gay rights with more brimstony fire than ever breathed by the more biliously draconian of the Old Testament prophets. He rages and rails against homosexuals, and against white people who, in his mind, introduced homosexuality to us. So far as the senior cleric is concerned homosexuality is un-African and only a union between a man and a woman is African - a risible oversimplification, a tired and flawed effort at making a clean-cut taxonomy of the complex human condition. The archbishop’s opposition to the more liberal ‘Mother See’ is common knowledge. Although I am a long-lapsed Anglican (really I would say that I only belonged to the church by parental proxy), I do not care whether the Church of England shivers into many pieces, really. Archbishop Akinola of Nigeria has often been credited with unsubtly orchestrating the break-up of the church, and basically the central cause of war is the issue of homosexuality. During the Anglican conference in Tanzania a couple of years ago, the brashly adversarial attitude and petulance the archbishop displayed in front of TV cameras when he was being politely questioned about his views on homosexuality did not suggest to me the sort of response Jesus Christ might give if asked a similar question – at least Christ might say something about the folly of throwing the stones of sin or something even more parabolic. Just as someone had pointed out, I think the Archbishop’s time would have been better spent telling off and playing heavy father over Nigerian amoral politicos and rulers.

I am not religious but as far as I know most creators of various religions, basing on their interpretation what their specific God wants, seem to preach love rather than hate. Then how come the (fanatic) followers of these religions seem to destill hate from that. Muslims hate and want to kill jews and christians, all religions want to ban or eradicate homosexuals. I dont know. It seems that those people are missing something. Where does their hate come from and how can they base that on teachings of love and respect.
