My name is Scottie. I am a licensed Psychotherapist in Los Angeles and have worked extensively with the LGBT community in many ways for many years. Clinically I have worked with Individuals, Couples, and Families of the LGBT population. Now here in California there is a more liberal view overall to Lesbians, Gay Men and Bi-sexuals. There is less information and thus more fear regarding transgendered persons. Although in my adult lifetime we have come a long way in attaining equal rights as
a culture and population. In America now there are 4 (out of 50) states honoring legal Gay/Lesbian marriage. Many states are preparing for the inevitable, where Same Sex marriage will be legal in the United States, as it already is in Canada, Spain, The Netherlands and probably more places by now.
I don't know so much about Ghana, but was delighted to discover this site Wetpaint (nice analogy). I am very interested in visiting Ghana in person possibly within the next months. I am also on a 'scouting' expedition to see how it might be to be an American living and working in Ghana. I am a Psychologist by trade. I am contacting the University to see if I might be an associate professor there. It is very convenient that your primary language is English,I believe. So, I welcome any questions or feedback regarding Lesbian and Gay life, lifestyles, experiences of any kind so that I might learn from you, and perhaps I might be able to share some experiences with you. Education and Knowledge is essential to live a conscious life, which I am attempting to do. Are you? I look forward to hearing from you. Scottie

I think it is a wonderful expedition you are planning. I think besides helping people you can also learn a lot about African Culture as I think there are some remarkable differences in the concept of being gay. You may have gotten a glimpse of what I am referring to on this site already. I hope you are able to execute your plans and see this wonderful country with its even more wonderful people.
