Let's face the fact that bible stories can be divided into those which have great relevance today (such love your naighbour as yourself), and those stories that are just wrong (such as Soddom and Gomorrah) because we now know better thanks to better scientific understanding in the past few thousand years. Modern Christians and Muslims do accept the fact that gender sexual preference is found in all races, all societies and an many thousands of other species as a small subset of opposite gender attraction. Love is not sinful if it is selfless love. Earthquakes are not caused by an angry God, but by sudden movements of techtonic plates. Those religious people that cannot or will not reconcile their understanding of religion today with modern science risk becoming irrelevant to younger generations. They will forever be locked into wrong and superstitious beliefs because they wrongly believe that every word is the word of God. Worst of all, they work against building a cohesive and harmonious society dedicated to helping our neighbours out of poverty and establishing high ethical standards for improving our quality of life. Modern men and women of God can find truth in the genome of humans, where we learn that our first human ancestors were east Africans since they have the oldest common human DNA. Truth is also to be found in the stars where every atom in our body was originally created. The atomic fusion process and super nova explosions created all the elements that we use on Earth today.
