Homosexuals could soon be lynched in Ghana – MP warns

A senior member of Parliament has warned that the homosexual community in Ghana may soon be at the receiving end of mounting public anger in the form of physical attacks and outright death if they do not stop what he calls their evil deeds.

These calls for public lynchings by the Dishonorable David Tetteh Assuming is a criminal act (incitement to murder) and would be regarded as such my most members of the United Nations. Such extremist incitement to mob hate crimes brings the Government of Ghana into great disrepute, with echos of genocidal campaigns, unless Assuming is rebuked and punished by the President. Most international observers will see these attacks as a diversion from Assuming's poor track record of representing his constituents. His comments have the potential to do enormous harm to Ghana's tourist industry and tarnish Ghana's hitherto good human rights reputation. Just last month on 17 May 2011 the UN called on all members to overcome homophobia. It's a message that needs to be respected to redeem Ghana's respect in the world body.
